THE COG PROJECT Thursday, May 15, 2008 There is an organisation started up called 'the COG project' which is trying to get GST removed from bike sale in New Zealand. Below Is there little blurb thing:
The COG project (Cyclists Opposing GST) is a fundamentalist organization lobbying the abolishment of GST on all bicycle sales in New Zealand including parts and services. We, at The COG project, believe that GST should be removed from bicycle parts and services because of the following - Cyclists possess a smaller ecological footprint per capita by not contributing to pollution or carbon emissions. - Cycling promotes healthy lifestyles. - Cycling discourages congested cities. If GST is removed from bike parts and services more people will be encouraged to ride bikes as a primary source of transportation thus increasing the positive benefits of bike riding. In conjunction with promoting ecological and environmental awareness, this petition aims to help protect the future of every New Zealander by decreasing emissions and promoting healthy lifestyles. So basically what it means for all us BMXers is that parts will be allot cheaper here in NZ and more affordable! Which is a really really good thing for everyone.
