Its really sad to see this thing go, its been apart of Aucklander BMXers for years, its been in plenty of magazines and has been shredded by pros from all over the world including some of the greatest like Ruben Alcantara. Its proberbly NZ most famous street spot... we will miss you!

Someone just told me that the whole thing might be moving to a new location?? if you look closely at the last photo the sign says 'art work on the move'?? but who knows!

well they are definatly making a meal out of pulling it down piece by piece rather than drive a bulldozer thru it,so a good sign it is being moved. fingers crossed the new look aotea sq has plenty to hop/ride/manual.
I sub-edited on a story about this the other night for the Herald. They are definitely just moving it. The guy who made it likes that skaters and bmxers use it. But they were saying they might put one side of it on grass, which is slighty retarded. At least it'll be back.
I have a lot of memories from riding the fountain. But the fact is no one hurt them self more than little Dave on it. One night after way to many beers he climbed to the top and then proceeded to fall straight to his ass trying to get off the thing. Then one year he pulled a wall ride to bum smash all on video. Classic action.
