WAIKUKU

We ventured out to visit Waiuku bowl on the weekend just been. The bowl out there is incredible and really is a piece of history. It must have been built some time in the 70's and I'm pretty sure there is no other bowl like it. The big end of the bowl is around 12 foot and 4 foot of that is over vert which makes it so gnarly to ride. Rumor has it that its soon to be gone, the council are apparently getting rid of it to put a rail track in, when we where out there part of the concrete had already been taken away... so if you get the chance to check it out make sure you do, its one of the oldest bowls in NZ and may not be there for much longer and there definitely isn't going to be another bowl built like it.Here's a few photos.. check the kid on the brakless MTB shredding the deep end while the local girls smoke ciggies. In Other news the Redbull Ledgends comp took place last night and was RADNESS!! Check back for photos.

There are plans in the mix to run the vintage railway over the historical bowl, something to think about if you care about this iconic location
