THE HOP COMP  Friday, July 31, 2009

Two weekends ago Me, Justin.S & Mike.L ran the Zombie / RedBull BMX hop comp. It turned out to be a rad event and got a little gnarly. The event was run in RedBull's Hanger, we started of the event with the Hop Comp.. the highest hop on the day was 39" and was done by East Auckland's Brian 'Buttery', not quiet as high as previous hop comps which reached 43"+. We also ran a highest wall ride comp on some ghetto 1/4's donated for the event by Bevan. The wall ride got a little out of hand, a few riders where sprinting in from the street and hitting the wall as high as possible, Jono won the wallride comp and Louis Bolter was about a inch behind him. After every wall ride the ramps fall apart a little more, eventually we had to call it quiets as someone was going to get hurt, check the photo below to see how high some of the riders where going. We then went on to run a best trick out of kicker to flat.. this again got gnarly and kids where throwing themselves all over the place... a few banger tricks went down like Truck Drivers & Tuck No Handers, but Jono Hopping from H-Town officially shut it down when he flipped out of it. Anyway it was a rad event and fun was had by all. Thanks RedBull, Triple6, Subrosa and Macneil for making it happen. And thanks to all the riders who came and supported the event.

I will have a few more photos up soon.

Shit was just getting dangerous on that wall! The ramps were mouldy and slightly damp!

Sweet comp though.
