Here is a few more photos from last weeks ride at Upland Rd. If you haven't ridden Upland Road park in Auckland make sure you check it out sometime, its not amazing, but its definitely fun!
I was talking to some riders the other day and was finding it hard to explain this, so I thought I would just post some photos instead.....
Before there was Rainbows End there was Coca Cola's Skateopia, the biggest skate park in southern hemisphere! I cant believe the demolished the whole thing to build a shitty amusement park... Its such as shame and so sad that most of us never got to ride it.. or even lay eyes on it for that matter!
There is a new bike check up, Stephens Simple Enigma with a pretty crazy custom paint job.. check it out. In other news if you didn't read below Paul Langands came third at the BMX Games in Melbourne... rad news for the Cambridge Shredder! Congratulations!
Jamie Fohey (Melbourne) left a message on my phone last night letting me know that Paul Langlands had taken 3rd at the BMX Games dirt over in Aussie!! Awesome news for the Cambridge shredder. Paul apparently unleashed his deep bag of tricks on the Aussies and a few American riders to take the podium.... mean....
Here is a couple of photos I took recently of two original Auckland Shredders.. Simon Palmer with a high two peg and Mr Dave Manconi ice-picking the Lynn Field bowl.
You might remember a did a post a few weeks back about a new park getting built in Mt Albert, check it here, well I'm not sure how true this is but apparently there not going through with the original design but instead building this... so I guess shit does happen! Even though allot of people didn't like the last park at least it was better than what there building now!! but I guess we cant complain to much, a tiny new park is better than no park at all! This new design still looks like a bit of fun though... especially when you look at the scale of the skater in comparison to the ledges and wedges. Like I said last time... one day ill get to air a 7 foot hip in my own city!... or maybe I should give up that dream and learn some grinds?
Last Wednesday night a few of us went out and had a ride at Manukau skate park for the first time in a while.. I had forgotten how awesome the park is, in my opinion once you get used to the lumpy transitions its easly one of the best parks in Auckland City. Here is a bunch of photos from the evening.
Photos in order are: An overview of the park, 3 photos of Bevan clicking turnsdowns, Bruce Thomson turndown over the pyramid, Wazman with a perfectly executed table and last of all a t-shirt some of you may appreciate.
This is some pretty f@#king sweet news... EDH are going to be making frames! and they look amazing too.. clean, simple, perfect!
Here is what Travis from EDH has to say: Yes you read it right EDH is finally bringing out our debut frame which we have called the "Render" frame. The project has been in the works for near on a year now, countless drawings, hours behind the PC doing solid models, research and correspondence with our agent as well as manufacturers so it hasn't been an easy road but it will be sooooo worth it! Being NZ's only BMX parts company we have tried to bring bits of the NZ scene into the frame like the beer bottle silhouette seat stay bracket, the "Babes and booze" decals done by NZ's own Mark Skulls, it's gonna be great. Removable brake system, double butted tubes, integrated seat clamp, cnc'd drop outs and completely heat treated are just some of the features, so guaranteed the EDH Render frame will have it all!Below are a few model renders of what the frame is to look like. The production samples are in the works now and should be here mid Feb, with some of our team riders shredding them soon after..... Stoked and hope you are too!I will post specs up soon so keep an eye out..
Keep and eye out in for more news on these frames as Ill try and keep people up to date with whats going on, hopefully in February we will be able to see some photos of a prototype.
Thanks for sending the info through Travis.. its rad to see the progression of a NZ owned, rider owned company!
Long time friend and bmx shredder Paul Moffat is back in NZ for a while after living in Canada for the last 2 years. It was rad to catch up with him and get some good rides in.. check the photos of him blasting the big transition at Manukau park, hopefully we will get some good street riding in over the next month and get some good shots.
Check the flyers below for a bunch of Jams coming up soon.
The Jed is going to be fun as hell, its going to be similar to last years park comp only this time bigger and better. There is also going to be a Six Pack next to the skate park that there going to run the the dirt nationals on. There is also a few rumors of some Australian riders heading over.. should be a big comp and a fun time.. so if you can make it, be there!
2009 looks like its going to be a pretty busy year for EDH.. they have a bunch new parts due to come out which include there new stem and 8.3" bars, how rad does the stem look with the knife cut out! EDH has few more things in the works so keep an eye out. edhbmx.com
