ZOMBIEBMX x REVOLUTION NEW ZEALAND BMX FORUMS
Friday, February 20, 2009
Finally after about 4 years or so we finally have forums up and going again......
The ZOMBIEBMX x REVOLUTION New Zealand BMX Forums.
Its been a long time coming but it just felt right to finally get something up and going. I think the NZ BMX scene is ready to have a place where they can post photos, web clips, news, events, jams, bike checks... etc etc.
Zombie has teamed up with Revolution to bring you the forums, the main reason for this is to tie the two ends of the country together, the North and the South, also because the guys at Revolution do a lot for the sport and are always keen to get behind it.
There will be no Anonymous posting on the forums.. everyone has to register to use them, they will also be heavily Moderated so there will be no shit talking or abusing people...... the forums is a place for Friends!
So that's it.. get on them, have look.... lets get shit started!!
To get to the forums click on the button to your right or book mark this address: www.zombiebmx.com/forum
In celebration of the release of the new forums we are going to be running a photo competition...
Ryan Lightfoot from Motueka sent in this rad little web edit of Tyler Know.. thanks! I don't really know where Motueka is but it looks like it has a fun park and the riders shred!
Righto, first off sorry its been so long since Ive posted something up here, mad busy (mostly riding)! Any ways here are a few pics from the Revolver (bar) Jump Jam down in Queenstown last week. The trails down at Gorge road are top notch with heaps of lines, it would take ages to get all the different options & transfers down.
The jam was attended by every form of biker, from heaps riding little mountainbikes with shocks, to guys riding mountain bikes with no shocks but big wheels, guys with no shocks and 24 inch wheels, and of course a scattering of BMX action heroes. Revolver bar got behind the event and got a couple of metal bands onboard to play, and being the XTREME capital of the world, some local BASE jumpers jumped into the trails from waaaayyy up high midway through the session- this was the craziest thing Ive ever seen! Many of the guys dominating on the MTB side of things either still ride BMX or used to, Luke McCombie ex-wellingtonian was dominating with flips, whips, no hands, dipped 3's and the like, Kelly McGarry also threw down much of his usuall madness out on a MTB, and of course Karl Bensemen was shredding like a madman. Karl is next level, super pop (like 2 foot higher than anyone), got the smoothest flow and a deep bag of tricks. Karl went down pretty badly on a CanCan 360, his shoulder dislocated on landing and down he went! The next 15 mins was spent trying to get the shoulder in using a bunch of different methods to no avail. Karl tells me hes healing quickly so alls well. No pics of these dudes riding cos - well this is a bmx site so BMX only.....
But in all fairness regardless of wheel size, everyone rode awesome and had a sick afternoon, there was even a (hot!) girl on a mtb riding wicked!
L-R - coolest line, berm/wallride/step down jump thing. Big Set. Karl before & after!
L-R - QC team shredder Ben Finney. Overall view. Henry Deveraux. Unidentified 3 I rode for quite a while (on the 20") but after a small get off I hurt my wrist, continued to ride for 3 or so hours but found out the following day my wrist is broke, operation in 2 weeks! DAMMIT! Hopefully that means Ill get some blogging on more regularly here on the ZOMBIE, but no riding for a while....
Next time a Jam goes down get there, Jetstar is now flying Auckland to Queenstown for cheap(ish) so get there! Shred their park, ride the dirt, get to Wanaka for a ride.... South of the South Island rulezzzz!
JJ from Blenheim sent in some information about the trail jam there having: 'We are holding a jam at our trails on sat 21st of March. We had a excellent turnout last year and expect this year to be even better with new lines and madness happening. I've attached a flyer for the event with the basic information on it. Basically it will start at 12pm, $10 entry to cover bbq etc. Riding, drinking, bbq on the day and that night I'm organising a after party at a venue here with a bar and our own bartender etc for my 22nd birthday with a live band etc. Should be off the hook. Prizes kindly coming from revolutionnz and edhbmx. Anymore info will be posted on our blog at www.sfabmx.blogspot.com'
Troy from Harewa / BMX mafia sent in a flyer for the Huckfest there having at the new skate park, apparently the new Harewa Skate park is pretty amazing so would definitely be worth making the trip for the Jam.
The flyer will be out next week for the 666/Zombie/RedBull Jam.
Check this, The EDH Headquarters.. this place is looks rad. With a place like that I think you can expect big things from EDH this year! Cant wait to see this company grow...
Here is some flyers for some events coming up soon!
Langlands is having a dirt jam on the 21st and I think its basically going to run late and turn into a party, his jumps look pretty gnarly so should be a fun time.
The Devonport Park Comp should be and fun time too, basically the council has put on the event, a bunch of sponsors are helping out and me and Kirk from Volucid are going to help run it on the day... and will be the first proper comp in Auckland for a longtime, which is rad. Ill have more details on the event later.. like how its going to be run etc. Oh and if you are a Devonport local you have to ride in the comp.. no exceptions!
Here is some coverage from the Jed Jam in Taupo. Check out redbullspecialops.co.nz ,Justin from RedBull has done a killer update on his site from the event. Also check out prophecybmx.blogspot.com, Ryan has done a huge update there with a crazy mixture of party and riding pics. Also Adam Powrie sent in these photos, although I think his friend Ben took the photos.. either way rad photos. Ill my photos up later tonight and more from Adam.Cheers Adam.
